Former Chiefs Player Allen Bailey Passes Away at 37

Former Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Allen Bailey has died at the age of 37. Bailey’s death was confirmed after he was found in his Florida home by his wife. His family suspects the cause was natural causes, though an official cause has yet to be determined. Bailey, who began his professional football career with the Chiefs in 2011, played with the team for eight seasons, marking his best season in 2018 with six sacks and four fumble recoveries.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and former teammates, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes, shared their condolences and memories of Bailey. Mahomes recalled Bailey as the first teammate he encountered after being drafted, describing him as a central, influential figure in the locker room. Reid and other team members expressed their sorrow, noting Bailey’s role as a “glue guy” who was essential to team dynamics.

Bailey’s impact extended beyond the field, touching many of his colleagues and friends. Additional former teammates, such as Chris Jones, Dwayne Bowe, Mitch Morse, and Mitchell Schwartz, also voiced their grief and appreciation for Bailey’s fun and energetic personality. Bailey ended his NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons, accumulating 22 sacks and 40 tackles for loss over 133 games.
